The Complete and Balanced Difference of Raw Wild

When choosing a raw diet for your best friend, it is important to ask: is your dog's food truly "Complete and Balanced"? Complete and Balanced is an industry term with a specific meaning.  “Complete” means that a pet food contains all the required essential nutrients, and "balanced" means those nutrients are present in the correct proportions relative to each other and the food's calories.  If dog food is complete and balanced, it provides a pet’s total daily nutrition needs without needing any other supplements.

Unlike many raw food options on the market, Raw Wild provides a Complete and Balanced daily diet. The beauty of feeding a Complete and Balanced diet like Raw Wild is how easy it is - you can feed your dog with confidence without worrying about adding extra supplements to fill nutritional gaps.

The Organ Meat Question

Many raw dog food brands utilize a "prey model," which seeks to balance a dog's diet naturally using a mix of raw muscle meat, bones, and organ meats like liver and kidney. However, Raw Wild takes a decidedly different and cleaner approach.

We do not put organ meat in Raw Wild. Our food consists of 99.4% wild Rocky Mountain elk and venison, and because these animals are hunted in the wild, the organs are either taken by the hunter or left in the field when the animals are field dressed.

While we investigated using organs from commercially raised and slaughtered animals to complete our recipe, we ultimately decided against it. We felt that introducing commercial organs would compromise the purity and quality of Raw Wild Dog Food. Commercially sourced organs introduce the risk of exposure to GMOs, hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, and slaughterhouse-related diseases like E. coli, salmonella, and listeria. Many people choose to feed those commercial organs, but we and our customers choose not to.

The Raw Wild Solution: Pure Wild Game and Premium Vitamins

Instead of relying on commercial organs, Raw Wild uses a pure 85/15% wild elk and deer meat to ground bone mixture. We specifically use the big elk leg bones to get the absolute most marrow into our food.

To make up for the vitamins and minerals usually found in organs, we took our meat and bone mixture to a pet nutrition lab for an exhaustive analysis. We then gave those results to a consultant with a PhD in pet nutrition and over 30 years of experience. He formulated a proprietary 0.6% vitamin and mineral premix using ingredients exclusively from the USA and Switzerland. This exceptionally clean supplement blend includes wild-caught fish oil, trace minerals, and essential vitamins. We carefully mix 1.2 pounds of this premix into every 200-pound batch of Raw Wild to bring our pure muscle meat and bone up to AAFCO standards.

Guaranteed Nutrition for All Life Stages

Thanks to this meticulous process, Raw Wild is formulated to be complete and balanced according to AAFCO nutritional guidelines for All Life Stages. Remarkably, it explicitly meets the stricter nutritional criteria required for the growth stage of dogs that weigh 70 lbs. or more as adults. This makes our food perfectly safe and nutritious for both growing puppies and senior dogs alike.
