The Truth About Raw Dog Food

The raw dog food industry wants you to believe that "raw" is enough. But we think there is more you should know and have taken a little deeper dive into the facts. While other brands sell you on the idea of purity, they are sourcing their meat from the same industrial farms that compromise our food supply.

We’re here to help you understand  the truth: the sources of ingredients in your dog's food matters more than anything.

Farm-raised meat comes with a hidden cost.
Commercial livestock are overwhelmingly raised in crowded, confined spaces typically known as feedlots and are routinely fed a diet of chemically sprayed, GMO  grains, corn  and alfalfa to bulk them up. This process can expose the meat to pesticides, herbicides, hormones, antibiotics, and contaminants like E. coli, salmonella, and listeria, putting your pet’s health at risk.

What about ‘pasture raised’ and ‘cage free’ animals?
The unfortunate truth is that even "pasture-raised beef" and "cage-free poultry" are still part of the commercial livestock industry.

Here are the hidden dangers:
Hormones and Antibiotics: While a small family farm might not use these, the vast majority of commercial "pasture-raised" operations use hormones and antibiotics as growth hormones to fatten the animals before slaughter.  According to the USDA definition of “pasture raised”, even these animals are allowed to eat grains, corn and alfalfa and still be able to be considered “pasture raised”, exposing them to all the same GMOs, herbicides and pesticides as animals raised on feedlots.

Contaminants:  No matter how an animal is raised, when it enters a commercial slaughterhouse, it's exposed to the same risk of E. coli, salmonella, and listeria as any other commercially processed meat. The facility, not the farm, is where these contaminants are most often introduced.   Take a look at how many recalls have been issued in the pet food industry because of these slaughterhouse diseases.

A "Farm" is Still a "Farm": These animals are still confined, particularly in colder climates in the winter months when they spend extended periods inside, and not living in a truly wild environment. Their diet is managed, and their lifestyle is controlled. They don't have the freedom to roam and forage on a truly natural diet that is completely free from human intervention and the application of chemicals.

Ultimately, while these labels are a step up from factory-farmed food, they are a marketing compromise and not a true solution. Even pasture raised ,farm animals still can't match the purity of an animal that roams freely, and lives and eats completely wild like to wild elk and wild deer that Raw Wild is made from.

The Wild Difference.
RAW WILD is the only brand of dog food that sources its meat from 100% wild elk and wild deer. These animals roam freely, living a life – as nature intended, thriving on a natural mountain diet of grasses, leaves, and plants. They are then harvested by ethical sportsmen and women, who carefully field dress, cool and deliverer their game to a human grade processing facility, for their own consumption. RAW WILD comes from the processing those big game, wild animals.

This means our meat is naturally free from hormones, antibiotics, and contaminants found in farm-raised livestock. It's not just a claim; it's a difference you can see in your dog's energy, coat, and overall health.

Stop settling for just raw.  Stop compromising your dog's health with farm-raised food.
